Bishkek, May 19–20, 2025 – A series of events dedicated to World Family Doctor Day took place at the I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA). Under the theme “Kyrgyzstan – A New Perspective on Family Medicine,” the forum brought together leading experts, practicing physicians, representatives of international organizations, and students interested in the development of primary health care.

The event opened on May 19 in the KSMA conference hall. Welcoming speeches were delivered by:
· Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, E.M. Checheybaev
· Rector of KSMA, Professor I.O. Kudaybergenova
· Vice-Rector for Scientific and Medical Work, Associate Professor N.N. Mamatov
· Professor of the Family Medicine Department, N.N. Brimkulov
During the plenary session and scientific conference, presentations were delivered on key topics in family medicine, including:
· Allergodermatoses and Bronchial Asthma (GINA-2025)
· COVID-19 and Diabetes Mellitus
· Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases
· Palliative Care and Distribution of Family Doctors by Region
· Modern Clinical Approaches and Personal Experiences of Doctors
Special interest was generated by presentations from representatives of international organizations, including WHO (Dr. Liviu Vedrasco), as well as doctors from “Eldik” clinics and MAG Clinic Medical Center.
In the afternoon, a roundtable discussion was held on the state and prospects of developing family medicine associations in the Kyrgyz Republic. Discussions focused on strengthening professional communities and improving the training of specialists.
On May 20, a functional workout took place on KSMA’s summer grounds, symbolizing physicians’ commitment to a healthy lifestyle and the preventive focus of medicine.
At the end of the event, participants were awarded certificates confirming their participation in the educational program.
World Family Doctor Day once again emphasized the importance of family medicine as the foundation of an effective, sustainable, and person-centered healthcare system.
